Before and After School Programs
The before- and after-school programs serving children in kindergarten through fifth grade will once again be offered at Little Home. For more information or to enroll your child, call 941-7790. -- You may sponsor a room with a donation of $5,000; or
-- You may sponsor the contents of a room with a donation
of $2,500.
All sponsorships
will be recognized with a plaque inside the new facility.
You may choose to have your own name or the name of a loved
one displayed on the plaque. Donations gratefully accepted
in one installment or in five equal installments. Come

Our
Mission
At Little Home Learning Center in Lowden, we will provide young
children with high quality early learning experiences that focus
on the development of the whole child. Our hands-on learning experiences
will develop the child physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.

At Little Home all activities are geared toward these 5 beliefs.
Children are positively reinforced for every accomplishment. At
Little Home, we encourage children to try new and exciting activities.
Our Staff
The teachers at Little Home are committed to providing the highest
quality of care and education to every child. We are all here for
the best interest of every child. Each staff member is required
to meet licensing requirements for:
• CPR
• First Aid
• Universal Precautions
• Mandatory Reporting Training
• 10 Training Hours in Child Development Each Year
Funding
Little Home Learning Center, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation,
qualified under I.R.S. regulations for charitable contributions.
All income from Little Home’s services and all moneys raised
for and contributed to the center are used for the day-to-day expenses
of the center, its preschool and its before- and after-school programs.
All expenditures are reviewed for their appropriateness and analyzed
for the benefit they will provide to the children served by Little
Home.
Licensing
We are licensed by the State of Iowa. The Iowa Department of Human
Services inspects our center to ensure that we are providing the
best care for your child in the areas of health, safety, and specific
state mandated requirements.
Age
Groups
Infants:
We serve children from ages 6 weeks to 2 years in our infant room.
The room is equipped with:
• Cribs and bedding for each child
• 2 swings
• High chairs
• Individual storage for personal items
• Refrigerator for bottles/sippy cups
This room has a state mandated staff ratio of 1:4.
Each child is sent home with a daily note which includes:
• Amount and times your child ate
• Times of diaper changes
• Times the child napped
• Check list of items your child needs at the center.
Big
Room:
Ages 2-5 have a daily schedule which includes:
Group Time (Calendar, Weather, Songs, Stories and Daily Theme Discussions)
Center Time (Housekeeping, Science, Sensory Table and Art)
Outside Play
All activities are based around our monthly themes and are develop-mentally
appropriate.
A nutritious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are served daily.
Preschool:
Our Preschool is in session from September to May and accommodates
3-5 year olds.
The 3 year olds class meets on Tuesday and Thursday for either a
morning session or an afternoon session.
The 4-5 year olds meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday for either a
morning or afternoon session.
Daily activities include:
• Group Time (Calendar, Weather and Days of the Week)
• Art Projects related to the daily themes
• Stories related to the daily themes
• Free Play with age appropriate materials
• Computer Time
Our Preschool helps to:
• Teach the Alphabet and Numbers
• Prepare your child for Kindergarten
• Work on fine and large motor skills.
A nutritious breakfast/snack will be served at all sessions.
